Not much has changed atop the list since the Clovis Invitational, and since the 5K is not as common a racing distance for girls as it is for boys in California, there have not been too many opportunities for a shift in the charts to be noted. However, do not sleep on the names spread across the list, because basing any conclusions for the State Meet off results from early October would be improper.
Right now there should be eyes on the Girls Div. IV race, where Payton Godsey, the senior from Oaks Christian HS and defending Div. IV champ looks to defend her title against Chiara Dailey, the sophomore from La Jolla HS who placed runner-up to Godsey at last season's State Championship. The duo has faced off twice this season, with Dailey beating Godsey at the Woodbridge XC Classic, one of the two times this season where the sophomore has dipped under the 16:00 minute barrier for the three mile.
