The official 2026 CIF cross country season is underway, and the opening weekend gave us plenty to talk about.
At the Mountie Xpress Invitational, family connections stole the show. The Wroblewski Sisters and the Cruz Twins helped their teams start the season as top contenders in California. St. John Bosco's boys move like a family, and their tight-knit group scored a perfect 15 points for seniors and led the Braves to the overall merge victory.
JSerra Catholic is fast, but you knew that. What we didn't know was that the five-time defending D4 CIF State champions would open with four girls under 10:44 and seven under 11:07 in their 3200m time trial.
It's still August, so it's not wise to overreact to every result. However, these performances, along with several other eye-catching efforts across California, were simply too impressive to ignore in our first Weekend Rewind of the season.
