Here we go! Topping the girls list for the 3200m in the state is sophomore star, Jaelyn Williams (Eastlake HS). The runner from the Metro Conference has been thriving on the oval since the start off the season, and she is a definite challenger for the state title in a few weeks. Right behind her are two other San Diego Section girls, Gioana Lopizzo (La Costa Canyon HS) and Chiara Dailey (La Jolla HS), ranked 3rd and 5th respectively.
Moreover, we notice a lot of young talent on this list as only two girls from the class of 2024 are listed in the Top 15 athletes. Both Southern Section and San Diego Section are holding down a majority of the Top 10 spots, so we should potentially expect the state champion to come from either of these sections.
Switching it over to the boys side, let's take a look at Emmanuel Perez (Cathedral HS). He leads the state with his time from the Arcadia Invitational, a night in which he donned a speed suit and ran a blazing 8:40.47 for the 3200m.
