All year runners across California are planning to have their best race of the season at CIF State XC Championships, so we compiled a list of some who did precisely that based on their results from last season. We compared last season's results to examine who is the most improved.

Matilda Ralston from Atascadero improved her time by 3 minutes and 42 seconds to become this year's most improved girl. Last year, she finished 207th, but with this time improvement, she moved up 90 spots to finish 117th.

The most remarkable improvement is in the Division 3 race where Gretchen Yakaitis moved up 69 places from last season to win the individual championship. Yakaitias improved by 2 minutes and 5 seconds to finish with a time of 17:09, the ninth fastest of the weekend.
