And yet again, Payton Smith of La Jolla HS is topping the charts! The Univ. of Michigan commit has the state lead for this season with her quick 53.56-second mark for the quarter mile distance. Smith clocked this time at the well-contested Arcadia Invitational in early April.
The first six girls on this list are all nicely under the 55-second mark for the 400m dash, and the first eighteen are well under the 56-second mark.
Over on the boy's side we have Dylan Ochoa (Northview HS) leading the CA boys with his 47.11 mark in the 400m dash. He ran this time at the Mt. SAC Relays a few weeks back.
Dheer Patel (Northwood HS) rounds out the Top 10 on the boys, Patel has a 48.19 registered on this chart. This means our Top 10 400m runners are separated by a mere second. Could be anybody's race come the CIF-State Championships in late May.
