Since December 14th, 2024, athletes have been competing throughout the state to earn a golden bib, qualifying them for the California Winter Track and Field Championships. Now, about a week away from the Golden State's descent onto Arcadia High School for the first time in 2025, we examine the top returners from the 2024 championship.
Christina Gray of Carson is one of several returners who have already secured her spot in this year's championship. Gray finished third in the 60 meters last year and rode that wave of success to a seventh place finish at the CIF State Track and Field Championships. What will her performance this year foreshadow?
The Winter Championships signifies the beginning of many seasons and the launch of high school careers. Isabella Wroblewski from Yorba Linda High School is the first freshman and the eighth fastest returner. Wroblewski had an impressive freshman year, culminating in a seventh place finish in the 800m at the CIF State Track and Field Championships. She currently ranks fourth on the performance list and is a serious contender for gold this year.
Another returning sprint star is Justine Wilson from Rosay High School. According to Finished Results, she is currently ranked in the top five of three events on the performance list. Last year, as a sophomore, she placed fourth in the 60 meter dash and finished second in the 300 meter dash.
The final set of qualifying meets will occur on February 1st, and then all eyes will be on the 8th. See you there!
