This Week's Nominees:
Jennifer Alcala, Chaffey (SS) (California): A 101.3-second winning margin at the Chaffey XC Invitational tells the story, as she ran the 3-mile course in 18:14.40. The time also ranks No. 6 among 1,189 athletes in MileSplit's database at Chaffey High School since 2023, and No. 2 among sophomores in that span. It marks a jump of 72.9 seconds faster than her prior mark on this course.
Amelia Sarkisian, Brentwood (SS) (California): The senior covered 3 miles in 18:37.40 to win the Bellarmine-Sacred Heart Invitational by 30.2 seconds. That time stands as the fastest in MileSplit's database at Griffith Park since 2012 among 1,042 athletes, and the fastest among the 215 seniors tracked there in that span.
Katherine Havens, Trabuco Hills (SS) (California): A 17:32.10 clocking over 3 miles was enough to win the 5th Annual Grit and Grind XC Challenge by just six-tenths of a second, topping a field of 164 finishers. That time stands as the fastest in MileSplit's database at Cal State San Marcos since 2024 among 935 athletes, and it is also the fastest sophomore mark on this course in that same span among 320 sophomore athletes.
Isla Terrill, Monrovia (SS) (California): Ran 17:51.10 for 1st place among 33 finishers in the 3 Mile at 42nd Annual Laguna Hill Cross Country Invitational. The mark is No. 25 of 9,991 athletes overall in MileSplit's database at this course since 2008. It is also No. 7 of 3,137 junior athletes in MileSplit's database at this course since 2008.
Isabella Vazquez, El Diamante (CS) (California): The field never had a chance to answer, as a 77-second margin separated first from second at the 53rd Annual Douglas P. Rudolf Invitational. Covering 3 miles in 17:41.00 was enough to win outright among 88 finishers.
