CANDIDATES
Conor Lott (Clovis North)
At Nike Cross Nationals, Conor Lott runs 15:39 to finish 26th, the top Californian. This weekend, he'll compete at the Brooks XC West Championships to wrap up an outstanding senior cross country season.
Blake Bay (Fresno Pacific)
A fantastic season continues for Blake Bay after finishing runner-up at the Brooks XC West Regional Championships to qualify for the National Championships. Bay ran an impressive 15:21, 35 seconds faster than his time at the 2024 West Regional Championships.
Maximo Zavaleta (Martin Luther King)
On his first trip to Nike Cross Nationals, Maximo Zavaleta ran 15:44 to finish 31st, the second-highest finish by a Californian. He steadily moved up in the race after crossing the first 1K at 55th place. Zavaleta closes his high school cross country career on the biggest stage with an excellent performance.
Andres Lomeli (Kimball)
Last week, Andres Lomeli was disappointed to finish as the runner-up in the D3 CIF State XC Championships, but qualifying for the Brooks XC West Championships may have eased that disappointment. Lomeli ran 15:24 to place 4th overall and secure a spot at Brooks XC as the second fastest Californian.
Braulio Castillo (West Ranch)
After a disappointing 7th-place finish in the D3 CIF State XC Championships race, Brauillo Castillo redeemed himself by qualifying for the Brooks XC Championships. Castillo ran 15:27 to finish 6th at the Brooks XC West Regional Championships, earning his spot at the national championships.
