CANIDATES
Cooper Stream (Vacaville)
At the 2025 CIF Sac-Joaquin Section XC Championships, Cooper Stream ran 15:25 to win the DII championship and earn the fastest time of the meet. Stream's season has been fantastic, but this win-defining statement shows how he's ready for the big stages. He also helped his team, Vacaville, finish second overall and qualify for the CIF State XC Meet.
Elias Thronson (Davis)
After winning the DI CIF-SJS Section XC Championship as a freshman, Elias Thronson returns to win again as a sophomore. This year, Thronson ran 15:44 to continue a consistent season of showing up in the big races. He and his team, Davis, qualified for the CIF State Cross Country Meet in two weeks.
Derek Luna (Rio Mesa)
The Rio Mesa Junior, Derek Luna, dominated his heat at the CIF Southern Section Prelims to run a new 3-mile personal record of 14:34. He's gearing up for a great battle in the DII Championship next week, which has five of the fastest boys from the CIF-SS Prelims.
Josiah Bowman (Sage Creek)
At the 2025 CIF San Diego Section XC Championships, Josiah Bowman won his second D4 Championship in a row. He ran 14:52 on a muddy, 2.96-mile rainy course version of Balboa Park to secure the fastest time of the meet. Bowman has flown under the radar most of the season, but since the Mt. SAC XC Invitational, he will be in the conversation for the State title.
Alijah Murillo (Branham)
At the 2025 CIF Central Coast XC Section Championships, Alijah Murrillo of Branham ran 14:52 on the historic Crystal Springs course. He dominated the DII Championship race to earn his first title and break 15 minutes on the course for the first time.
