2021 Senior Girls MileSplitCA All-State Cross Country Team

The 2021 MileSplitCA All-State Senior Girls Cross Country Team is a subjective team based on results from the CIF-State Championships within the class and overall, with consideration to leaders of top teams, and section divisional results.

FIRST TEAM



RILEY CHAMBERLAIN (Del Oro/SJ)


Ranked sixth in the class and 14th overall at the CIF-State Championships, running the 5K Woodward Park course in 17:41.00 to place second in the Division III race. State Meet D-III champion in 2018 and 2019. Three-time Sac-Joaquin Section Division 3 champion. Ran her 5K PR of 17:01.90 on the William Jessup Univerity course in winning a fourth consecutive league title. Ran her 3-mile PR of 16:41.10 for 14th at Woodbridge, a time that ranked seventh in the class for the season. College: BYU. (Patrick Corsinita photo)


ISABELLA DUARTE (Saugus/SS)


Ranked fifth in the class and 10th overall at the CIF-State Championships, running the 5K Woodward Park course in a PR time of 17:34.90 to place fourth in the Division I race. Three-time State Meet qualifier. Placed second behind Sam McDonnell in the Division 1 race at the Southern Section Final, running the Mt. SAC course in 17:17.30. Ran her 3-mile PR of 16:40.00 at Woodbridge for 13th in the Sweepstakes race, the No. 6 time in the class for 3 miles during the fall season. (Patrick Corsinita photo)


JACEY FARMER (Rancho Bernardo/SD)


Ranked seventh in the class and 15th overall at the CIF-State Championships, running the 5K Woodward Park course in 17:41.40 to place fifth in the Division I race.  Her time at State ranks eighth in the class for 5K races held during the CIF season. San Diego Section Division 1 champion, running the Morley Field course in 17:26.80, the No. 2 time at the meet. College: BYU. (Patrick Corsinita photo)



DALIA FRIAS (Mira Costa/SS)


CIF-State Division II champion, running the 5K Woodward Park course in 16:52.00, which ranks as the second-fastest time ever by a girl in Division II and ranks as the fifth-fastest ever by a senior in the history of the meet dating to 1987. Her individual accomplishment also led the team to its first State Meet title. Southern Section Division 2 champion, running the Mt. SAC course in 16:48.60 while leading her team to its first section title since 1982. Won seven of 10 races. Wins included the Sweepstakes race at Woodbridge, setting a 3-mile record on the SilverLakes course in Norco of 15:43.50. That time is a national season-best on 3-mile courses regardless of class. Won D1-D2 Team Sweepstakes race at Mt. SAC in 16:42.80, fastest at the two-day meet by 33.10 seconds. SAMANTHA MCDONNELL (Newbury Park/SS)


Ranked third in the class and sixth overall at the CIF-State Championships, running the 5K Woodward Park course in 17:08.70 to place second in the Division I race while leading her team to a runner-up podium spot. Southern Section Division 1 champion, running the Mt. SAC course in 16:50.50 in leading her team to the division title. Her 3-mile PR time at Woodbridge of 15:54.60 for second place behind Dalia Frias and also went under the previous course record. That time ranked No. 2 U.S. on 3-mile courses for the season. Won five of nine races with two seconds and one third. Her winning time at Clovis of 17:02.10 ranked CA No. 6 for 5K races conducted during the CIF season. Closed out her stellar high school cross country career with a sixth-place finish at the Garmin RunningLane National Championships, running the flat and fast 5K course in Huntsville, Alabama in 16:43.15. SOPHIA NORDENHOLZ (Albany/NC)


CIF-State Division IV champion, running the 5K Woodward Park course in 16:46.00, which ranks as the third-fastest time ever by a girl in Division IV and equals the third-fastest time ever by a senior in the history of the meet dating to 1987. She is one of only 11 girls to have run sub-17 at the State Meet. It is equal to the seventh-fastest performance and she tied 2019 D-I champion Carlie Dorostkar as the fourth-fastest performer. North Coast Section Division 4 runner-up behind Acalanes sophomore Olivia Williams, who she beat for the State title. STORMY WALLACE (Sage Creek/SD)


Ranked fourth in the class and ninth overall at the CIF-State Championships, running the 5K Woodward Park course in 17:34.00 to place fourth in the Division IV race.  San Diego Section Division 4 champion, running the Morley Field course in a meet-best 17:20.90 to win by 56-plus seconds while leading her team to a fourth consecutive title. SECOND TEAM


Mia Chavez (Chino/SS) -- Ranked 11th in the class at the CIF-State Championships, running the 5K Woodward Park course in 17:55.00 to place fourth in the Division II race. Southern Section Division 3 champion, running the Mt. SAC course in 17:36.1. College: Arizona. (Patrick Corsinita photo)

Tatiana Cornejo (St. Francis/SJ) -- Ranked 10th in the class at the CIF-State Championships, running the 5K Woodward Park course in 17:54.60 to place fifth in the Division II race. Placed fourth in the Sac-Joaquin Section Division 2 Final, running the 5K Willow Hills course in 18:29.90.

Emma Hadley (Anaheim Canyon/SS) -- Ranked tied for 12th in the class at the CIF-State Championships, running the 5K Woodward Park course in 18:06.20 to place ninth in the Division II race while leading her team to a second-place finish behind Mira Costa. It was her third time on the State Meet podium (top0-10 finish). Placed 12th at the Southern Section Division 2 Final in 18:00.2 as her team also placed second to Mira Costa. Closed out her high school cross country career with a 38th-place finish at the Garmin RunningLane Nationals in Huntsville, Alabama, running the flat and fast course in a 5K PR of 17:21.29.

Georgia McCorkle (Agoura/SS) -- Ranked ninth in the class at the CIF-State Championships, running the 5K Woodward Park course in 17:52.30 to place third in the Division III race. Southern Section Division 3 runner-up, clocking the Mt. SAC course in 17:42.4. Ran the seventh-fastest time in the class at the Mt. SAC Invitational (17:37.90) to win the D3-D5 Individual Sweepstakes race. College: Cal.

Ella Parsley (Mira Costa/SS) -- Ranked eighth in the class at the CIF-State Championships, running the 5K Woodward Park course in 17:45.50 to place fourth in the Division II race while helping lead her team to its first CIF-State XC title. Placed fourth in the Southern Section Division 2 Final, running the Mt. SAC course in 17:26.8 as her team won its first title since 1982. Ran the fifth-fastest time in the class at the Mt. SAC Invitational (17:26.70). 

Bella Peretti (Pioneer/CC) -- Ranked 14th in the class at the CIF-State Championships, running the 5K Woodward Park course in 18:08.30 to place 10th in the Division II race. Central Coast Section Division 2 champion, running the Crystal Springs course in 17:47.80. College: San Diego State.

Isabella Smith (Vista Murrieta/SS) -- Ranked tied for 12th in the class at the CIF-State Championships, running the 5K Woodward Park course in 18:06.20 to place 13th in the Division I race. Placed fourth in the Division 1 race at the Southern Section Finals, running the Mt. SAC course in 17:31.1 while leading her team to a third-place finish.

THIRD TEAM


Sophie Compton (Point Loma/SD) -- Ranked 21st in the class at the CIF-State Championships, running the 5K Woodward Park course in 18:21.00 to place 10th in Division III. San Diego Section Division 3 champion, running the Morley Field course in 17:58.90. Won eight races.

Madison Parrone (Oak Park/SS) -- Ranked 18th in the class at the CIF-State Championships, running the 5K Woodward Park course in 18:14.20 to place ninth in Division II. Placed fifth in Division 3 at the Southern Section Finals, running the Mt. SAC course in 18:01.7 while leading her team to a fourth-place finish and State Meet spot.

Mahalia Quintana (Woodland/SJ) -- Ranked 19th in the class at the CIF-State Championships, running the 5K Woodward Park course in 18:18.00 to place ninth in Division IV. Sac-Joaquin Section Division 4 champion, running the Willow Hills course in 18:40.90. Won nine of 11 races.

Mackenzie Rogers (Poway/SD) -- Ranked 15th in the class at the CIF-State Championships, running the 5K Woodward Park course in 18:09.40 to place 11th in the Division II race while leading her team to a fifth place finish. San Diego Section Division 2 champion, running the Morley Field course in 17:40.50.

Kayla Rutz (Oak Ridge/SJ) -- Ranked 20th in the class at the CIF-State Championships, running the 5K Woodward Park course in 18:20.80 to place 21st in Division I while leading her team to a third-place finish. Placed second to eventual State champion Anna McNatt at the Sac-Joaquin Section Division 1 final, running the Willow Hills course in 18:20.00 while leading her team to the division title. Annika Salz (Torrey Pines/SD) -- Ranked 16th in the class at the CIF-State Championships, running the 5K Woodward Park course in 18:10.00 to place 16th in Division I.  Placed fourth in the Division 1 race at the San Diego Section Finals, running the Morley Field course in 17:40.60 while leading her team to the division title. College: UCLA

Natalie Wieland (Ponderosa/SJ) -- Ranked 17th in the class at the CIF-State Championships, running the 5K Woodward Park course in 18:11.20 to place 12th in Division II. Placed sixth in the Division 2 race at the Sac-Joaquin Section Finals, running the Willow Hills course in 18:48.80.
