The season still has plenty of racing left, but we are already noticing a quick start to the 5K distance. As is the tradition, the year kicks off with plenty of 3-mile races in September before hitting the full 5K courses throughout the rest of the season.
Leading the charts is senior Gus Schafer (Oakland Technical // OS), who clocked an impressive 14:38.50 to win the Oakland Regional this past Saturday. He put just over ten seconds between himself and runner-up in the race, Alexander Ibarra (Coliseum College Prep // OS), who is ranked third on this chart.
The Top 5 boys on these rankings all have a time of 15:00 minutes flat or faster registered for this season, and the Top 20 are all listed at 15:30 or faster for the 5K distance. Look forward to what the month of October brings us in this exciting distance!
