POLL: CA Girls XC Performer of the Week OCT (13-19)

Last week, Summer Wilson of Irvine was named Performer of the Week

We'll conduct a poll every week highlighting some of California's best cross country performances.

The California Performer of the Week poll will close at 5 p.m. PST this Thursday, and the winner will be announced shortly after on MileSplit West Social media pages (Instagram, X, Facebook).

CANDIDATES 

Gretchen Yakaitis (Carondelet)

At the Rough Rider Invitational, Gretchen Yakatis continued her remarkable season after such a great reace at the Nike Portland XC meet in September. Last weekend Yakaitis captured another dominant victory in a time of 17:47 to win the small school girls varsity race. This was the second fastest time of the entire meet futhuer demonstrating how much of a threat she will be during the championship season.

Braelyn Combe (Santiago)

The Inland Empire Challenge finally got another girls' sweepstakes race winner but the title will stay at Santiago High School. Braelyn Combe ran 16:21 to wint he sweepstakes race by 20-seconds and help Santiago win their fourth I.E. Challenge championship in five years.  

Millie Bayles (Trabuco Hills)

The recent BYU commit, ran 16:21 to finish second overall at the Orange County XC Championships. Millie Bayles' excellent performance proves that she is still one of the top runners in the state and on the way to being back in the national conversation. 

Reese Holley (JSerra)

JSerra continued their undefeated season with another team victory at the Orange County XC Championships, led by Reese Holley as the top runner. Holley ran a personal record of 16:32 on a 3-mile cross country course secure a third place finish in the championships race. 

Avery Wolk (Davis) 

The girls' race at the Grizzly 3200 came down to the wire with Avery Wolk from Davis finishing as the runner-up in a time of 10:38. This is an impressive performance for Wolk since it's faster than her 3200m times during the track season by almost twenty seconds.
