CANDIDATES
Olivia Campos (Mt. Carmel)
An electric finish at the Sundevil Invitational earned Olivia Campos another Performer of the Week nomination. Campos ran 17:11 to beat nationally ranked runners and set a senior course record at the Sundevil Invite.
Carol Dye (Santa Margarita)
At the Central Park Invitational, Carol Dye ran 17:17 to finish second overall as the top Californian of the day. This was her first race with Santa Margarita after transferring from San Juan Hills over the summer. She is likely to make an impact when the full varsity Santa Margarita team possibly competes at the Clovis Invitational this weekend.
Sophie Hutchinson (Whitney)
At the Bulldog Invitational, Sophie Hutchinson ran 18:30 to lead Whitney to a team victory against some of the best teams in the Sac-Joaquin Section. Hutchinson finished fourth overall on the 5K course to continue a five-race streak of finishing in the top 5 in each race.
Kaitlyn Bosch (Clovis North)
The Golden West Invitational was highlighted by Kaitlyn Bosch's dominant performance on the 5K course. Bosch ran 18:23 to win the Varsity Girls' race, which also helped her team secure a 22-point team victory.
Marina Avila (Palm Desert)
A Desert Queen is emerging before our eyes from Palm Desert High School, named Marina Avila. The sophomore won the Agent Alejandro Flores Memorial Classic by almost three minutes. Her finishing time was 16:56 on the 2.9-mile course.
