The first weekend of California cross country always features plenty of 2-mile racing to ease runners into the long and competitive season. Week 1 of the 2025 season brought outstanding performances across the Golden State, with Jaxon Northcutt leading the way. The Mt. Carmel junior ran 9:28.00 to win the Bronco Roundup, making early noise in San Diego.

Meanwhile, Albert Jacinto's 9:46.80 at the Mountie Xpress Invitational put the entire Southern Section on notice, as he set a personal course record by more than a minute. Vin Krueger of Oaks Christian (9:34.40) and Malaxai Murphy of Apple Valley (10:00.04) also posted the fastest 2-mile marks at their respective XC meets. All of the meet winners from this past weekend are highlighted in BOLD below.
