On Friday night at the BU John Thomas Terrier Classic, Jaelyn Williams ran the fifth fastest girls' indoor high school 3000m of all time, earning her a spot in the U.S. high school record books.

The Eastlake High School senior arrived at Boston University with the same mission as the numerous runners who've set NCAA, national, world, and all-time high school records at the now-famous track. Williams ran an excellent race, averaging roughly 36 seconds per 200-meter lap to clock 9:07.39 and finish ninth overall.

Her time was six seconds off Katelyn Tuohy's national high school record, moving her past Elizabeth Leachman for fifth on the indoor 3000m all-time list.

Boston University continued Jaelyn Williams' East Coast indoor circuit that started last weekend at the New Balance Indoor Grand Prix.On Sunday, she'll race at the Millrose Games in a rematch of the Nike Cross Nationals and Brooks XC Championships, where she finished third at both events.

With a place now secured in U.S. high school history, the Stanford commit continues her senior season with significant momentum.
