Kelli Gaffney, a junior at Great Oak (SS), ran a season-best 17:22, in placing second in the Division 1-2 Team Sweepstakes race at the 73rd Mt. SAC Cross Country Invitational on Oct. 23. Her time was the third-fastest of the two-day meet that recorded 3-mile times for 3,461 girls.  

In recognition of her accomplishment, Gaffney was voted as CA's Girls Cross Country Runner of the Week for the week ending Oct. 23, receiving 49.42 percent of the vote to win by 152 votes in a statewide poll. Peninsula junior Aishling Callanan, a former weekly winner, was second with 38.41 percent of the vote.

Vote for this week's CA Girls Cross Country Runner of the Week based on last week's meet results through Oct. 30. Voting closes Friday at 9 p.m.
