We're officially in the middle of CIF as the Southern Section started this past weekend, and the remaining California sections will follow this week. The short hurdles are a beautiful combination of speed and technique that can't be mastered in one high school track season. The list below illustrates how these hardworking athletes have improved since last year in one of the most technical races on the track. 

Simone Barnes is by far the most improved hurdler in the 100m hurdles, with an 18.35-second improvement since 2024. Barnes ran 36.94 last year and finished this season at 18.59.

Kameron Pressley of Vista Murrieta also significantly improved this season from 16.01 to 14.86. In 2025, Pressley consistently competed at the top of the Southern Section, winning several invitational races, and she captured the Southwestern League Finals. Her 14.86 in the 100m hurdles at the CIF Southern Section Division 1 Prelims still wasn't enough to qualify for the finals. However, this shows her abilit...
