Khaliq Muhammad after winning the 65th Annual Mt.SAC Relays Invitational Pole Vault

Last weekend at the 65th Annual Mt. SAC Relays, we saw a duel between California's top two boys pole vaulters, Khaliq Muhammad and Kai Anderson (Watch Kai's interview at Mt. SAC here). The boys tied at 17-1 to both hit personal records in the pole vault.

Muhammad has improved by 0-4 since last season, while Anderson has improved by 0-5. They will both compete for the CIF State Championship in May and look for higher heights.

While these boys are improving at the top of the California rankings, so many other boys are getting better each week in the pole vault. The most improved boy is Ryan Lin of Los Gatos, vaulting 6 feet higher than last season. Riley Gash is another highly improved athlete who is vaulting 3-2 feet higher than last season. Gash made it to the Central Section Masters meet last year so keep your eyes on him this upcoming postseason.
