Samira Kennedy, a junior at Castilleja (CC) ran a big PR of 4:49.37 to win a 1600-meter race that saw the top eight go under 5 minutes at the CCS Top 8 Meet.

For that performance, you voted Kennedy as the MileSplitCA Girls Track and Field Performer of the Week for the week ending April 23.

Kennedy received 72.20 percent of more than 6,700K votes in a statewide poll. Aaliyah McCormick, a senior at Scripps Ranch (SD), was second in the voting, receiving 13.96 percent of the vote.

Each week we will put seven top performers from the past week on the line and let you choose the top CA Track and Field Performer of the Week. 

Voting closes Friday at 9 p.m.
