The CIF-Southern Section Masters Meet brings together the top qualifiers from the four-division championships held last Saturday in an elite competition that serves as a qualifier for the CIF-State Championships May 24-25 at Clovis Buchanan High.
From the CIF-SS Division Championship Finals, the top nine (9) in the sprint events and top 12 in the distance and field events, regardless of division, qualified for this meet.
Getting here may have been more difficult for many than moving on. The top six (6) in each event will automatically qualify for the State Meet, and those beyond the top six hitting an at-large standard will also advance. The at-large standard is the average ninth place qualifying time at the California State Championships over the past three seasons.
Here's the schedule for Saturday's Masters Meet at El Camino College in Torrance:
The following preview is listed in order of the meet schedule running events followed by girls field events and boys field events. Marks listed with the event headers are the State Meet qualifying standards.
NOTE: Masters Meet qualifier charts list laned events in lane assignment order and non-lane and field events in qualifier order based on marks from the Southern Section Division Championship Finals. Relay names for qualifying teams are based on results sheets provided at the Section Championships and may not be accurate in order or of the participating runners.
