2019 Sacramento Meet of Champions preview

400 Meters

Girls Meet Record: Tierra Robinson-Jones Bishop O'Dowd 53.18 2018 (6:20pm)
Boys Meet Record: Frank Kurtz Heritage 47.03 2013 (6:25pm)

The meet record that was set last year will be quite safe at least through 2019. The favorite here will be Sheldon senior Thalia Reid (photo above with Reid on far right courtesy of John R. Hull) who ran her fastest time of the season of 55.63 at the Arcadia Invitational. She will be challenged by Ceonna Pipion of Vista Del Lago who also ran her fastest time of 55.80 at the Arcadia Invitational. Another notable name in this field is Menlo junior Charlotte Tomkinson. She finished in 6th place at last year's California State Track and Field in the 800m and currently has the fastest time in that event in California.

Last season, Monterey Trail's Zachary Larrier won the Sac-Joaquin Section race and had a subpar race at the state meet due to illness. He has certainly been on a tear this season and will be the overwhelming favorite here. His fastest time of the season (46.49) was set at the Arcadia Invitational and will below the meet record here. His closest pursuer is teammate Camden Wheeler (49.39) and Foothill's Tomas Kersulis (49.44).
