Girls Throws
As much as the sprints are providing a great preview of some of California's best, the throws will not disappoint. In what has become a great matchup between Orange County's bests, Los Alamitos' Faimalie Sale is in the class all by herself in the Shot Put. In taking 2nd place at the 2017 California State Meet, Sale will seek to improve upon her 46-11.75 personal best when she was the Southern Section Masters Champion. While Sale will matriculate to the University of Arizona in the Fall, she is coming off a frustrating weekend in the Discus, where she was 9th in the state in 2017. Her personal best of 153-10 is one of the top returning efforts in the nation. Meanwhile, the Twin Powers out of Costa Mesa, Felicia and Tayla Crenshaw are all too familiar with Sale as this will be the third straight weekend these girls have met up to compete. The Crenshaw shine in the Discus with Felicia currently #4 in California (153-2) after she placed 5th at last year's state championships. Tayla (132-6) is currently 4th in the Southern Section. Right on her heels is Trabuco Hills junior Kyleigh Wilkerson. Her 132-1 effort is 6th in the section while Ventura senior Cynthia Tuzak (127-4) is #7. Mission Hills' junior Kiera Cruz has gone out over 117 feet this Spring after uncorking a 129-1 personal best in 2017. The much improved junior from University City, Angel Srioudom is a dual threat to medal in both throws coming in with 40-3 and 114-9 efforts this month. She is currently #2 in the San Diego Section for the Shot Put.
