Thanks to Dan Tyree for providing much of the team and individual insight for this article.
The Sac Joaquin is the first section to crown its champions (and determine its state meet advancers). The SJS Finals are tomorrow at Willow Hills Reservoir in Folsom, and you can expect competitive team and individual races across both genders and all divisions! This is one of the strongest sections in the state every year, and the qualifying spots are slim: three teams move on from Divisions 1, 2, and 3, while only two get through in the smaller divisions.
Previews for each of the varsity races are on the following slides. But before we get to that, let's take a quick look at one of the unique features of the SJS postseason: they allow JV and Frosh-Soph teams to qualify for finals and compete for bragging rights within the section! Check out the rankings below to get a good idea of the top teams in those races. We will be on-site for photos of EVERY race, plus videos and interviews from the varsity finals!
