CANDIDATES
Brandon Arrington (Mt. Miguel): At the Arcadia Invitational, Arrington continued his outstanding season with an iconic 100m and 200m double win. He ran 10.35 to win 100m invite, which was essentially a CIF State Championship preview. He then came back to break Noah Lyles' Arcadia 200m meet record with a U.S. No.1 time of 20.35.
Jaelen Hunter (Servite): It would be easier to simply say the entire Servite boys team with the amount of success they had at the Arcadia Invitational. However, Jaelen Hunter's performances played a part in half of their great performances. First, Hunter ran crucial legs apart of Servite's 4x200m, 4x100m, and 4x400m relays that all won Arcadia. The 4x2 and 4x1 performances were special since they broke California records. In the midst of all this realy craziness, Hunter handled his business with a 47.91 in the 400m to win the seeded section.
Brandon Andrade (Etiwanda): The sophomore from Etiwanda continues to improve in the 300m hurdles, and he walked away with a huge PR at the Arcadia Invitational. Brandon Andrade clocked 37.09 to place fourth in the 300m hurdles and become the fastest sophomore in the nation.
Quentin Mitchell (Antelope); An almost perfect day at the Arcadia Invite helped Quentin Mittchell jump into this week of Performer of the Week nominations. Mitchell cleared five heights on his first try to a new PR of 6-11 to win the invitational section. He made a couple of attempts at 7-0 but couldn't get over this time.
Lucas Alberts (Jesuit): Friday at the Arcadia Invitational belonged to Lucas Alberts, when he helped Jesuit win the 4x800m invitational with a big final kick to secure the top mark in the U.S. of 7:41.51. On Saturday, he ran 1:51.91 to PR in the 800m and finished sixth place in the invitational section. He's currently ranked the 2nd-fastest sophomore in the nation and the 5th-fastest in all of California.
