ARCADIA -- Oh, those dueling Moll twins.
The Olympia (WA) Capital HS pole vault savants were at it again on a pleasant Saturday evening at the Arcadia Invitational.
This time it was Hana Moll getting over on sister Amanda with a national outdoor record clearance of 15 feet, 0 inches. Amanda, who held the outdoor record at 14-9.50, set last spring, also set the indoor standard at 15-1.50 in January at the National Pole Vault Summit.
So, natch, after Hana went over 15-0 on Saturday, she had the bar moved to 15-1.75, you know, all in the name of sibling rivalry for these two seniors headed to the University of Washington.

Moll's record clearance was the obvious headline performance by field event athletes during the invitational session of the two-day high school track and field meet that saw eight of the 12 events hit U.S. top-six marks including two No. 1s, two No. 3s, and three No. 4s.
Amanda Moll placed second with a best of 13-3, the same height as La Costa Canyon (SD) junior Iliana Downing, who placed third.
Returning CIF-State champion in the long jump, Sydnie Vanek of Clovis (CS), extended her wind-legal national lead in the event to 20 feet, 7.50 inches. She landed her winning jump on her second attempt following a foul and also pierced the sand at 20-4.75 (0.0) on her sixth and final attempt. She also had marks of 19-10.25 and 19-11 in her impressive series. In the above interview, the University of Arizona volleyball recruit, talks about her goal of getting to 21 feet.

Sophomore Jaicieonna Gero-Holt of South Hill (WA) Emerald Ridge didn't quite match the her winning high jump from a year ago but 5-10 was good enough here to defend her title. Gero-Holt was clean on her first three heights before missing at 6-0, the height she cleared a year ago, tying the second-best mark in meet history. Her winning height is tied for U.S. No. 6 this season.
