Congratulations to top vote-getter, Madilyn Siana of Rancho Cucamonga (SS)!!


Siana, a junior, led her team to the overall title at the Mt. SAC Invitational, running 17:54 in the Team Sweepstakes race on the iconic 3-mile course in Walnut as the Cougars were 168 points ahead of their next closest competitor in the merge of the two-day meet where 310 teams scored.

Siana received 43 percent of the vote in a statewide poll. Emma Arredondo, a senior at Bishop Amat (SS), was second in the voting, receiving 30 percent of the votes.

Each week we will put seven athletes on the line and leave it up to you to select the overall CA XC Runner of the Week. Our objective each week will be to select top performers from across the state.

This week's candidates (listed alphabetically by last name)


Aubrey Eaton (Providence-Burbank/SS) - Eaton, a sophomore, won the Prep League title, her second race win of the season, running 19:23.20, a 27-second year-over-year improvement while beating the defending champion by more than 43 seconds on the 3-mile course at Pierce College in Woodland Hills.

Grace Hutchison (Buchanan/CS) - Hutchison, a senior, rolled to her second title in as many races in October, winning the John Seaman Invitational, running 16:40.57 to lead a 1-5 Buchanan sweep in the large division race on the 3-mile course in Kingsburg.

Katie Kopec (Whitney/SJ) - Kopec, a senior, won the Sierra Foothill League title a year after placing second, her third race win of the season, running 17:53.8 over the 5K course at William Jessup University in Rocklin.

Louisa McNatt (McClatchy/SJ) - McNatt, a senior, won her second Metro League title, and first since her freshman year, running 17:58.42, to win by 98 seconds while leading her team to the title on the 3-mile course at North Laguna Creek Park in Sacramento.

Katelynn Ruiz (Watsonville/CC) - Ruiz, a sophomore, won her third race of the season in dropping the fastest time on the course at the PCAL quadruple league finals meet, running 20:06 to win the Gabilan League title by more than 26 seconds on the 5K Course at Palo Corona Regional Park in Carmel-by-the-Sea. 

Anna Soares (Placer/SJ) - Soares, a junior, won the Foothill Valley League title, her fifth race win of the year, running 17:53.20 to win by almost 23 seconds on the 3-mile course at Maidu Regional Park in Roseville.    

Summer Wilson (JSerra/SS) - Wilson, a freshman, rolled to victory in the Trinity League Finals, her second race win of the year, running 18:04 to lead her team to victory on the 3-mile course at Central Park West in Huntington Beach.
