2018 Sacramento Meet of Champions Preview

400 Relay
Girls Meet Record: San Lorenzo 45.95 1999
Boys Meet Record: Vallejo 41.16 1999

The invitational section will start with a clash of three teams that should wage a close battle around the entire American River College track. If I had to pick a favorite, it would be the Central girls from Fresno who have the fastest entry time of 47.37 and have recorded an undefeated season to date. The two teams that will challenge Central are quite formidable and each team could easily win this event. Sheldon has a best of 47.58 and has proven to be one of the best sprint programs in Northern California. Bishop O'Dowd has been equally as impressive and their season-best time of 47.41 puts them right up there the top teams in the state at CA #6.

The boys' 400m race will be quite a bit deeper than the girls. 8 out of 9 teams have run faster than 43 seconds this season and most will come to this meet aiming for a victory here. The fastest entry time belongs to Sheldon, a team that could score two victories in this event provided their girls win their heat as well. Keeping them honest will be De La Salle (42.35), Maria Carrillo (42.53) and Grant (42.58).
