Falcons’ Violette and Weisman Soar Above the Heat
September 26, 2008, Marysville, CA – 36 schools competed at the Yuba-Sutter Invitational on Friday afternoon, with over 190 runners braving the high temperatures in each race. Before the dust could settle, Austin Violette had placed 8th overall and first among Division-5 teams, while Christa Weisman took 9th overall and first against D-5 competition.
The Falcon Men’s team also flew away with top honors in Division 5 competition, placing first with 27 points, ahead of Faith Christian in 2nd with 44 points; followed by Sacramento Country Day in 3rd with 59 points.
Violette, who clocked 18 minutes 10 seconds, was backed up by teammates Ashton Santee in 70th overall (2nd in D-5), running a personal best of 20:49, and DJ Unruh
grabbing 100th (5th D-5) in 22:19. Finishing the Falcon’s top-ten was Josh Thompson (141st, 24:24), Amos McCamey (142nd, 24:26), Dawson Young (145th, 24:46), Robert Ring (152nd, 25:12), Seth Brainard (158th), David Herron (159th), and Joshua Long (188th).
In the Women’s Race, the Falcons’ Christa Weisman (pictured left - in front) crossed the line in 22:21 in 9th overall (1st D-5), while Lia Hegarty finished and Elyse Vierra finished in 5oth and 51st with times of 26:55 and 26:56 respectively. Annie Pearce was the Falcon’s final runner of the day with 112th place.

The Falcon’s next competition will be the Wildfire Invitational in Foresthill on Saturday, October 4, with the first race beginning at 9:00 am.
