Dev Doshi, Newbury Park (SS)

Class of 2024

_ _ _

Yes, the Sahlman brothers and Young twins have rightfully earned all the recognition they have received in leading the national champion Newbury Park cross country/distance team. Doshi was the youngest member of the Panthers Super Seven lineup that won CIF-Southern Section, CIF-State, and Garmin RunningLane national cross country titles.

Dev ranked No. 3 in the class at the State Meet, placing 26th in the historic Division I race in 15:40.60 as the Panthers crushed the team time record. Doshi ranked No. 1 in the class at the Southern Section final, running 15:00.00 on the Mt. SAC course for sixth place behind five teammates. He placed third in the class at Woodbridge (14:58.20).

What earned Dev inclusion in this article is his opening 9:09.40 for 3200 meters at the Sundown Track Series Meet No. 2 at Azusa Pacific University.

Running in the championship heat won by senior teammate Colin Sahlman in the fastest time ever at that distance (8:33.32), Doshi placed 10th in a time that, after the first week of the season, ranks U.S. No. 1 in the class. To give Doshi's mark a little more perspective, only one boy in the Class of 2024 went faster for 3200 meters during the 2021 track and field season.
