Fast early DMR performances from California Mar 21, 2009

Some swift early season distance medley relay times were posted on Friday in invitationals held in California. At the California Relays, Elias Gedyon (pictured left by Margot Kelly) ran a sub 4:10 1600 meter anchor leg for Loyola (10:14.48), but his team finished three seconds behind a Dana Hills squad who clocked a US #1 outdoor time of 10:11.99. With the potential of the Albemarle boys (VA), Nike Indoor Nationals champion and US #2 all-time indoor DMR, coming out to Arcadia next month, there is potential of a great DMR battle if both teams opt to compete in the relay race. In the same meet, the Wilson High girls from Long Beach could have ran a faster combined 1600 leg than Gedyon with their 4:06.83 victory in the SMR. The La Reina girls clocked an early US leader in the DMR at the Camarillo Classic with a time of 12:18.09. Host school Camarillo had a strong performance out of sophomore Heyden Woof with his 15:12.27 victory in the rarely contested 5000 meter run.
