Axel Mostrag did not have the race that he had hoped for in California as he finished seventh in the invitational mile (a field of 14) at the Arcadia Invitational in a time of 4:14.80. Nonetheless, Mostrag's time is a state leading performance thus far this spring. Catherine White broke 11 minutes for the 28th time in her high school career with a seventh place run of 10:42 in the girls 2 mile run. Griff Graves finished 19th in the boys 2 mile in 9:22, while the most impressive performance from Virginians at the meet may have been the Fork Union boys running a 10:19 DMR without Mostrag to finish second. MileStat.com will be posting updates of how the Virginians perform out in Arcadia as soon as possible. Just two hours before the start of invitational division events at 5 PM Pacific Standard Time (8 PM Eastern Standard Time), MileStat.com photographer David Fleenor (on-site at Arcadia) reported the weather to be cold with a drizzly rain. Tonight will have from Virginia: Axel Mostrag in the boys mile, Griff Graves in the boys 3200, Catherine White in the girls 3200, and Fork Union in the boys DMR will be competing this morning. Mostrag is not planning to compete on the DMR. Blacksburg junior Laurel MacMillan competed earlier in the meet in the unseeded section of 3200 meter run and clocked a personal best time of 11:03.34 (PR by 5 seconds) to finish ninth. Just goes to show the incredible depth in the quality level of competition found in the meet for MacMillan to be just over 11 minutes and finish ninth in an unseeded section of a girls 3200. More to come from Arcadia!

It was cold and windy in Southwest Virginia at the FASTER, FARTHER, HIGH INVITATIONAL at Radford University on Saturday as well, and Wilson HS of West Lawn PA must have felt like it was home. Axel Mostrag (Pictured to the left, Photo by David Fleenor) will be flying across the country this week to test himself in possibly his lone opportunity to bust a fast mile time while in the states at the Arcadia Invitational. Meanwhile, Mostrag will be featured on a loaded distance medley relay for Fork Union that will also be competing in California. Three other Virginians will also be competing against many of the nation's best athletes from one of the best states for high school track and field in California. David Fleenor will be on-site for photo coverage at Arcadia of the Virginian athletes.
