Weekend Rewind: The Official 2026 CIF XC Season is Underway

JSerra Girls Dominate 3200m Time Trial

JSerra Catholic is fast, but you already knew that.

The five-time D4 CIF State XC Champions are no strangers to being the talk of the town at the start of XC, but this performance is unlike anything we've seen before. Before we delve into the stats and analysis, we should note that this time trial was timed and posted by JSerra.

Okay, now let's talk about these crazy times in August!

In the JSerra Catholic girls' 3200m time trial, their top 14 girls set personal records, and 3 girls could have qualified for the CIF State 3200m final if they had competed in the CIF Southern Section Masters 3200m. That shouldn't be surprising for a team that held the MileSplit50 No.1 XC rankings for weeks last season, but it does reinforce how dangerous they will be this season.

What's most impressive about these times may be the performances from places 5-7. Although these three girls didn't go under 10 minutes like their top four runners, they all ran under 11:10, demonstrating that the barrier is in reach. Hutton Nelligan, Talia Whitten, Hayden Kroger, and more ladies working together to place the best #5 scorer on any given Saturday could make a big difference for the Lions.

Lastly, their top four performances should not only scare the competition but also put each of these ladies on the radar as individual threats in invitational races. Last season, the #1 scorer spot changed hands frequently, and with Reese Holley and Brooklyn Tennant finishing within one second of each other, it doesn't look like that will change.
