CANDIDATES
Jorden Wells (Servite): At the Texas Relays, Jorden Wells competed in four different events over the four-day meet. Individually, Wells ran a wind-aided 10.55, placing second in the Division II boys' 100m. He also participated in Servite's meet record-breaking 4x200 relay and anchored the 4x400 relay with a time of 48.16 to second place. He was also part of the 4x100m relay, but a miscue on one of the handoffs led to their inability to qualify for the finals
Landon Pretre (Menlo): In his 3200m season opener, Landon Pretre put on a clinic at The TEN and showed why he is one of the best distance runners in the state. Pretre led essentially for the entire race and separated from the field on the back half to run 8:58.52.
Camren Smith (Quartz Hill): At the Simi Valley Invitational, Camren Smith jumped 49-11.25 for a CA No.1 and U.S. No.3 in the triple jump. This is a 2-foot PR from the senior out of Quartz Hill who has just put himself in the national conversation.
Jasir Fontenot (San Diego High School): At the Texas Relays, Jasir Fotnet ran a wind-aided 13.47 to win the 110m hurdles against an extremely talented field. He also ran a wind legal 13.85 in the prelims, ranking him CA No.1 and U.S. No.8.
Grant Miller (La Serna): The senior from La Serna made a big move with 300m to go to win the biggest race of his life and PR by seven seconds. Grant Miller ran 4:08.30 to win 1600m at The TEN, taking the California lead and moving up to U.S. No.6 in the event.
Brandon Arrington (Mt. Miguel): This past week, Brandon Arrington finally opened his outdoor season at a dual meet and the 44th Sundevil Invitational. Arrington ran 10.24 in the 100m on Saturday, breaking the San Diego county record. He doubled back to win the 200m in a 20.37 for the second-fastest 200m mark in California history. He currently leads the nation in the 200m.
