The last of the CIF-Sectional Championships took place on Saturday morning. Take a look at some of the key performances from this weekend!
Boys CA Performer of the Week
Evan Noonan - Dana Hills HS (SS) - He ran a 14:42.09 and was the winner of the Div. III Boys race at the CIF-SS Finals. He's shown a steady trend since coming back after taking most of October off the racing circuit. Will lead the Dolphins of Dana Hills HS back to Fresno for another round at Woodward Park.
Griffin Kushen - Tesoro HS (SS) - Also stemming from the CIF-SS Finals, Kushen was the winner of the Div. II Boys race. He clocked a 14:38.50 on his path to victory and was also the fastest time of the day at the section finals. He'll take the line alongside his Tesoro HS teammates in Fresno, CA next Saturday.
Paul Tranquilla - Venice HS (LA) - The first of the Los Angeles City Section to crack into the weekly rankings this season, Tranquilla produced a fast 14:44.60 in the race at his section finals. He makes his return to Fresno after missing the qualifying spots last season. His last 5K race was close to two years ago at the 2022 CIF-State Championships.
Girls CA Performer of the Week
Isabella Ramirez - Bullard HS (CS) - She won the Div. I Girls race at the CIF-Central Section Finals. Ramirez clocked a 17:39.58 on the 5K course at Woodward Park, a great tune-up for Saturday's race. She was the fastest girl on the day at the CIF-CS Finals.
Holly Barker - Trabuco Hills HS (SS) - Barker won the Div. I Girls race at the CIF-Southern Section Finals and was also the fastest girl at the meet. Her 16:40.70 sent a message to the rest of the section and state after what appeared to be a shaky start to her senior season. She carries the Mustangs of Trabuco Hills HS into Fresno as one of the top team contenders to NXN.
Millie Bayles - Trabuco Hills HS (SS) - The junior has been on a hot streak this season, and she's been a key part of the Trabuco Hills HS lineup. She was runner-up to teammate Holly Barker in the Div. I Girls race and the merge at the CIF-SS Finals. Another close 1,2 finish like the one from this weekend from Barker and Bayles could be fatal for other teams hoping to clinch an NXN berth.
