Congratulations to Jason Deal of Paloma Valley (SS) this week's top vote-getter for MileSplit Boys Track and Field Athlete of the Week.
Jason, a senior, won the 60-meter dash (7.07) and the 150-meter dash (15.96) and placed second win the 300-meter dash (35.47) at the Vista Murrieta Winter Qualifier. Jason's 150m time is the fastest in CA from the winter qualifying meets.
Jason received 46 percent of the vote in a statewide poll. Tarron Johnson, a senior at Vista Murrieta (SS), received 31 percent, and Xai Ricks, a junior at Long Beach Poly (SS), got 17 percent of the vote total.
Congratulations to all athletes whose performance warranted consideration in last week's poll and thanks to everyone who voted.
Who's next?
Each week we will select top performers from the previous week/weekend and put them on the line for you to select the CA T&F Performer of the Week. This week, our focus is exclusively on performances from the CA Winter Track and Field Championships held on Feb. 4 at Arcadia HS. And there were so many outstanding performances that it's unfortunate we are limited to just eight options.
Check out the resumes below and then make sure to vote in the FanPower module at the bottom of the page. Here's where you decide the performer of the meet.
As always, voting closes Friday at 9 p.m.
So we've gotta ask: WHO YA GOT?
This week's candidates (listed alphabetically by last name)
