Congratulations to last week's top vote-getter, Melanie True of Ventura (SS)!!

True, a freshman, was a runaway winner of the Varsity Girls Division at the Ventura County Championships, running 18:43.50 to win by 23.5 seconds over the 3-mile course at Castaic Lake in Castaic.

True received 39 percent of the vote in a statewide poll. Ellie Buckley, a senior at Campolindo (NC) was second in the voting, receiving 35 percent of the votes.

Each week we will put seven athletes on the line and leave it up to you to select the overall CA XC Runner of the Week. Our objective each week will be to select top performers from across the state.

Emma Arredondo (Bishop Amat/SS) - Arredondo, a senior, won the small school division Individual Sweepstakes at the Mt. SAC Invitational, running 17:43 to win by three seconds while leading her team to the race division title over the iconic 3-mile course in Walnut.

Chiara Dailey (La Jolla/SD) - Dailey, a freshman, was the fastest girl on the course over the two-day Mt. SAC Invitational, running 16:58 over the iconic 3-mile layout in Walnut.

Grace Hutchison (Buchanan/CS) - Hutchison, a senior, was the fastest girl on the course while leading her team to the division title at the Flat SAC Invitational, running 17:39.50, the second-fastest time in meet history on the flat 5K layout at Gibson Ranch in Elverta.

Cameron Macias (Clovis West/CS) - Macias, a freshman, was a seven-second winner at Mt. SAC, running 17:31 to win the large school division Individual Sweepstakes race on the iconic 3-mile course in Walnut.

Kelli Gaffney (Great Oak/SS) - Gaffney, a senior, rolled to victory at the Mt. SAC Invitational, running 17:33 for a five-second winning margin in the large school division Team Sweepstakes race on the iconic 3-mile course in Walnut.

Madilyn Siana (Rancho Cucamonga/SS) - Siana, a junior, led her team to the overall title at the Mt. SAC Invitational, running 17:54 in the Team Sweepstakes race on the iconic 3-mile course in Walnut as the Cougars were 168 points ahead of their next closest competitor in the merge of the two-day meet where 310 teams scored. 

Sophie Stoddart (Palos Verdes/SS) - Stoddart, a junior, was the fastest girl at the Riverside Invitational, running 18:36.60 to win by 0.30 seconds while leading her team on the 3-mile Riverside City Course.
