Rhone, a senior, was the top runner from CA at Portland XC, running 14:59.1 on the 5K course at Blue Lake Park in suburban Fairview, Oregon to place third overall -- 3.9 seconds behind the winner -- in Jim Danner Championship at the multi-state competition.
Rhone received 38 percent of the vote in a statewide poll. Nathan Short of Folsom (SJ) was second in the voting.
Each week we will put seven athletes on the line and leave it up to you to select the overall XC Runner of the Week. Our objective each week will be to select top performers from across the state.
Be sure to vote in the MileSplit Picks window below the candidate list. Voting closes each week on Friday at 9 p.m.
