Congratulations to last week's top vote-getter, Cameron Rhone of Long Beach Poly (SS)!!

Rhone, a senior, was the top runner from CA at Portland XC, running 14:59.1 on the 5K course at Blue Lake Park in suburban Fairview, Oregon to place third overall -- 3.9 seconds behind the winner -- in Jim Danner Championship at the multi-state competition.

Rhone received 38 percent of the vote in a statewide poll. Nathan Short of Folsom (SJ) was second in the voting.

Each week we will put seven athletes on the line and leave it up to you to select the overall XC Runner of the Week. Our objective each week will be to select top performers from across the state.

This week's candidates (listed alphabetically by last name)



Dax Daley (Oakdale/SJ) - The senior claimed the Varsity Boys title at the Clovis West Golden Eagle meet, running 15:46.14 over the 5K course at Woodward Park in Fresno to win by more than 13 seconds.

Jimmy Dominguez (Santa Ana/SS) - This senior dropped the fastest time of the day at the Central Park Invitational, running 14:56.70 on the 3-mile course in Huntington Beach to win his race by just over seven seconds. 

Emmanuel Hernandez (Cathedral/SS) - The junior took top honors at the Bellarmine/Sacred Heart Invitational, running 15:27.90 over the modified 3-mile course at Griffith Park in Los Angeles to win the Doug Speck Sweepstakes race by seven seconds over Cathedral classmate Emmanuel Perez 

Mateo Malko-Allen (St. Mary's College/NC) - The junior ran the fastest time at the Artichoke Invitational, running 11:56 over the 2.3-mile course at Half Moon Bay to win the Small Schools Division race by more than 13 seconds.

Ryan Mitchell (Davis/SJ) - The senior won a tight race at the Tom Laythe Invitational, running 15:40.97 over the 5K course at Willow Hills in Folsom to win by just over seven seconds. 
 
Alex Naehu (Palos Verdes/SS) - The junior was the fastest boy at the Palos Verdes Invitational, running 10:18.80 over the iconic 2-mile course to win the Varsity No. 1s match-race by more than 12 seconds. 

Jacob Niednagel (La Costa Canyon/SD) - The senior was a narrow winner at Temecula Twilight, running 14:48.40 on the 3-mile course at Galway Downs to win by 1.5 seconds.
