GIRLS
Graduations closed the book on an elite class of girls in the SJS, led by Del Oro's Riley Chamberlain, the Oak Ridge duo of Ava Maier and Kayla Rutz, and the St. Francis duo of Tatiana Cornejo and Cate Joaquin. There's plenty to get excited about the deep returning group and national-level teams like Granite Bay and Oak Ridge.

More Teams To Watch
Davis
The Division 2 runners-up are scheduled to return five from the 2021 final, including three scorers. Senior Norah Dulaney ran No. 1 at both SJS and State, senior Abby Carrol ran No. 4 and junior Anna Kelly ran No. 5. Two other juniors. Amie Huang and Jessica Oslund also bring post-season meet experience into the '22 season.
Bret Harte
The dominant program in the small-school divisions will again be the team to beat with six returners from the seven who took the line at the section finals, including four scorers. Senior Kadyn Rolleri, who placed third at the SJS Final and 22nd at State, leads the way and is the only senior among the scoring returners. Others include juniors Addison Heermance, Savannah Inks, and Taylee McDaniel, and sophomores Lilly O'Genn and Sophia Keirns. Bret Harte has won a combined 15 SJS titles, tied with Davis and Del Oro for the most by any program in the section.
Colfax
The Division 4 runners-up may just be the team to beat. If everyone returners, it would be the team's top five scorers. Junior Jade Biitner ran No. 1 and placed third overall at the section final and ran No. 2 at State. Senior Carlee McCabe ran No. 1 at State and No. 2 at SJS, placing ninth. Senior Gabriella Biitner, sophomore Morgan Turner, and sophomore Sophia Sunding, and senior Mari Ziegler also bring post-season experience into this fall season.
McClatchy
The lineup that was just four points behind runner-up Davis in the Division 1 race is scheduled to return six, including three behind section and State champion Anna McNatt. Behind the senior, who closed out her stellar fall at the EastBay National Championships, are seniors Louisa McNatt, Olivia Johnson, and Brooke Kirchner. Sophomore Stella Louney and junior Jillian Palmer also bring big-meet experience into the '22 season.
Placer
The aforementioned Division 4 champions, who just might want to look over their shoulder at Colfax, lost two top-three scorers to graduation but returns five from the SJS final. Leading the returners is junior Anna Soares, who ran No. 2 at sections and No. 1 at State, placing 37th as a sophomore. Other expected returners with big-meet experience are juniors Leah Booth, and Grace Mueller, and sophomores Olivia Passafiume, Abigail Egge, and Emmy Grove.
