Kerry Smith, a senior at Covina (SS) High, ran a then-state-leading 48.29 for 400 meters at the Colt Classic in a race where Jake Preston of Cathedral (SS) ran CA's No. 4-ranked time (48.61).
For that performance, you voted Smith the MileSplitCA Boys Track and Field Performer of the Week for the week ending March 5.
Smith received 45.57 percent of nearly 12K votes in a statewide poll. Ryan Fabian, a senior at Oxnard (SS), was second in the voting, receiving 25.38 percent of the vote.
