This is a weekly series that will highlight some of the top up-and-coming young stars in the Golden State. This week our focus is on boys and girls who stood out as freshmen during the 2021 track and field season.
Some athletes warranting inclusion here were featured in previous articles of this series and are not repeated here, allowing for other young stars to also be recognized.
Athletes are selected primarily based on ranking with the 2024 class based on results in the MileSplit database. Please let us know if results are missing from the database. Athletes ranking high within the class in more than one category were strongly considered.
Below we feature four boys and five girls heading into their sophomore track and field season.
