PREVIEW Sundown Track Series Distance-Only Meet

HOW TO WATCH LIVE ON MILESPLIT

Saturday evening's Sundown Track Series meet, produced by Newbury Park coach Sean Brosnan, will be held at Eastmark HS in Mesa, AZ, and live-streamed by MileSplit.

The 800m-Mile-3200m event is scheduled to include most of the top boys from the Panthers' Southern Section, CIF-State, and Garmin RunningLane National cross country championship team, as well as most of the girls from NP's Southern Section Division 1 championship team.

The plan is for boys cross country national champion Colin Sahlman to run the mile with a sub-4:04 goal, Brosnan said. Sahlman, a senior headed to Northern Arizona University, also won the Southern Section Division 1 and CIF-State Division I cross country titles in leading the Panthers to a series of jaw-droppingly dominant performances.

Lex Young, a junior at Newbury Park, is also scheduled in the mile race at Sundown. He and Sahlman are preparing to compete at the Dr. Sander Columbia Challenge indoor race at The Armory in New York in two weeks.

Other Newbury Park front-runners, Aaron Sahlman, Daniel Appleford, Hector Martinez, and Dev Doshi, also are scheduled to compete.

Leo Young, a junior, and girls senior star Samantha McDonnell (an Alabama signee) are both coming back from injuries and are training but not scheduled to compete, Brosnan said.

In addition to the Newbury Park girls, Ventura freshman sensation Sadie Engelhardt, an Eastbay National Cross Country finalist, has also registered to compete.

There are handful of races currently scheduled with the first race set for 7 p.m. local time in Mesa (6 p.m. PST) with the live stream on MileSplit scheduled for the top of the hour.
