Peninsula junior Aishling Callanan ran the second-fastest time in the history of the grueling 2-mile Palos Verdes Invitational course (11:28.56) to win the Varsity 1 race by 51 seconds.
In recognition of her accomplishment, Aishling was voted as CA's Girls Cross Country Performer of the Week for the week ending Oct. 2, receiving 66.76 percent of the vote in a statewide poll.
Ashlyn Boothby, a sophomore at Scotts Valley (CC), was second for the second consecutive week, receiving 35.31 percent of the vote.
