9) Chase Gordon Jesuit (SJS) 800 Meters
While some teams seem to get a new uniform style and color combination for every competition, Jesuit's uniforms remain as stable as their longtime coach Walt Lange. Yellow shorts, red top with Jesuit on the upper chest in gold. Last season, Jesuit junior Matt Strangio may have received a lot of the headlines but he was definitely not their only elite distance runner. Fellow junior, Chase Gordon, was solid throughout the season with consistent top 3 finishes in his specialty, the 800m. At the state meet, Gordon qualified to the final and just like many past Marauders, Gordon ran his best race at the biggest California event, the state meet final. Gordon took over the lead with 300m to go and muscled his way to an eventual 2nd place finish, just .03 behind eventual winner, Kai Wingo. Gordon's time of 1:51.74 surpassed his previous mark of 1:53.06 set at the Arcadia Invitational.
