8) Katriina Wright University City (SDS) 400 Meters
As we work our way toward the most outstanding returning athlete, our next choice is another defending state champion, University City's Katriina Wright. She made it to the state meet as a freshman but was unable to make it to Saturday's final. As a sophomore Wright was one of the most improved quarter milers in the state as she recorded a near-perfect season in the event. She had the fastest time at the trials and stormed to her first state title with a new best of 53.93.
