CA's Top 10 girls to watch for 2020 Track & Field Season

9) Corie Smith Buchanan (CS) 3200 Meters

Last season, two Fresno schools roared to state track team titles including the home team, Buchanan girls. They wrapped up their state title in the penultimate event, the 3200 meters, as their ace junior Corie Smith, finished in 2nd place with a new best of 10:17.39. Smith had missed the cross country state final in the fall due to illness and was more than prepared for a big race in front of the home crowd. This past fall, Smith was even better as she ran one of the fastest times on the Woodward Park course (16:54) at the Clovis Invitational. She finished in 2nd place at the Division I final which qualified her for the NXN meet. In Portland, Smith represented her school and state well as she finished in 12th place. Stay tuned for this coming May as Smith will once again run her final race on her home track and I have a feeling she is ready to drop another big PR.
