Brighter Forecast for Orange County Championships

BOYS PREVIEW

For the boys, Dana Hills is as heavy favorite as a team once again.  The Dolphins are seeking a fifth consecutive title while they captured the title a year ago by an overwhelming 118-point margin over El Toro.  At full strength, El Toro can challenge but it will be a tall task as Dana Hills continues to improve into one of the best in the Southern Section.

Like the girls' race, the fight for third place should come down to several schools.  San Clemente has been consistent this season, while Beckman has shown great improvement.  Meanwhile, Canyon and Capistrano Valley's boys are coming off their best performances of the season from last weekend at the Clovis Invite.

Individually, Dana Hills' Carrick Denker is the fastest returner.  Meanwhile, JSerra's Anthony Grover (DeAnna Turner photo at right) opted not to compete a year ago but now stands as a heavy favorite.   Aliso Niguel's Ben McKenna and El Toro's Mitch Groff both finished in the top ten a year ago, but have working their way back to form after slow starts to the 2019 season.
