Boys' Varsity Small School: This race featured the two top-ranked teams in the state in D3 as Campolindo and Maria Carrillo renew their rivalry. Carrillo is paced by the three-headed monster of Rory Smail, Colton Swinth (file photo above from last year's Woodbridge Invitational with Smail and Swinth), and Pierce Kapustka, while Campo is led by Cayden Hein and Dylan Gunn. Look for one of those runners to claim in the individual victory as well. Cloverdale's Paden Collard will also be a factor in the front of the race.
Girls' Varsity Small School: This race should prove to be an exciting one as Miramonte and Maria Carrillo are both returning some incredible talent upfront and they look to be the top two teams in this race. Miramonte is paced by Audrey Allen, who is looking to improve upon her 12th place finish here from a year ago. Carrillo features a solid front duo in Jasmin Hirth and Nicole Morris. Individually, Jordan Cornet of St. Mary's and Natalie Perez will both be looking to finish in the top 5.
Boys' Varsity Large School: While powerhouse schools like Dublin and Bellarmine may be resting out their "A" teams for this meet, considering both programs are among the deepest in the state, look for them to do some damage in this race. Willow Glen will be bringing a strong contingent of runners and should be in the mix as well. Kellen Steplight of Vacaville, fresh of an impressive performance at the Lagoon Valley Classic, is the favorite to take the individual title.
Girls' Varsity Large School: This race is wide open from a team standpoint as Presentation, Oakland Technology, Homestead, Dougherty Valley, and Monte Vista all have deep squads that will be in contention. Harper McClain of St. Helena looks to be the individual favorite after a sizzling spring track season has put her among the state's best runners. Gianna Mendoza of Presentation, Samantha Schauman of Clayton Valley, and Alexa Amador Trejo look to round out the chase pack. With McClain's front-running style and compact stride, look for her to challenge the all-time course record of 11:27.
