BOYS
(Projected final standings and projected points)
1) Murrieta Mesa (65-70 points)
Christian Shakir Ricks is the heavy favorite for the 100 and 200 meters. With Shakir-Ricks on anchor, the Rams also expect to capture 20 points in both relays as their seasonal bests hover above all challengers. Matthew Okonkwo is favored to win the 400 meters and take runner-up to his teammate in the 200. That alone could be enough to hold on for the title as they may only end up scoring in a total of five events. But, Davonte Williams will add more support as the Rams are looking for the sweep in the 200 meters. Williams (Frank Bellino photo above) also advanced in the 400 while Jermarcus Tate will make it three entries there. Kenneth Williams advanced in the triple jump and may provide an extra insurance point or two.
2) Mission Viejo (53-57 points)
The Diablos are looking for huge points from Brett Hickman. Competing against two of the best in the state, Hickman is projected to score 16 points in the 800 and 1600. Luis Chavez is looking to finish in the top three for the 3200 meters. Josh Hill is the favorite to capture the 300 hurdles while he's expected to also gather points in the 110 hurdles. Behind two of the best in the section, Mason Gariepy is expected to take 3rd in the pole vault. Christian Lavalle is projected to score five points in the discus. MV is slated to finish second in the 4x100 Relay while competing for second place in the 4x400 relay.
3) Ventura (45-49 points)
One of the best in California, Carlos Aviles is a heavy favorite in the shot put and has the top mark in the division for the discus. Beyond those projected 20 points, one of California's best decathletes will get to shine. Between the 110 hurdles, pole vault and long jump, Derek Pekar is slated to score 14 points combined. Evan Cox is expected to be in the top five for the 300 hurdles while the Cougars expect to earn points in the 4x400 relay as well. In the 3200, Cody Beeson will be up front trying to pull an upset and gather more points.
4) Mater Dei (42-46 points)
Sam VanDorpe is the favorite to capture the 800 meters while John Wacker also advanced in the event. In the horizontals, Titan Ruotolo projects to score 14 points and is the favorite to capture the triple jump. Chad Lemmons is projected to score ten points from the 100 and 200 meters combined. The Monarchs are also expecting to earn eight points from the two relay squads.
5) West Ranch (33-37 points)
Daniel Bryant is slated to score 14 points between the shot put and discus. The trio of Timothy Sterkel, Evan Bates and Isaiah Seidman will represent the Wildcats well in the 1600 and 3200 meters. They project to score 20 points altogether. Mya Davis also looks to add some points to the squad in the 300 hurdles.
6) Simi Valley (29-33 points)
Junior Riley Hunt has emerged as the favorite in the 110 Hurdles while expected to compete for 2nd place in the 300 hurdles. Dexter Stephens is a threat to pull off a slight upset in the discus. Jonathan James will be amongst the top five in the pole vault while the Pioneers also expect to earn more points from their 4x100 Relay.
7) San Marcos (24-28 points)
Beau Allen is the favorite going into the high jump. In one of the rare feats achieved at any postseason level Jaydn Mata qualified in all three jumps. With the high jump being his strongest, he is projected to score 14 points. Jason Peterson will also pick up points in the 800 meters.

Ethan Danforth is the favorite going into the 3200 meters while Christian Valles will battle it out with Marina's Skyler Magula for the pole vault crown.
10) Redlands East Valley (16 points)
Elias Opsahl projects to score all of their points in the 800/1600 meters.
Others: Newport Harbor, West Torrance, Moorpark
9) Canyon/CC (22-25 points)
Ethan Danforth is the favorite going into the 3200 meters while Christian Valles will battle it out with Marina's Skyler Magula for the pole vault crown.
10) Redlands East Valley (16 points)
Elias Opsahl projects to score all of their points in the 800/1600 meters.

GIRLS
(Projected final standings and projected points)
1) Mater Dei (63-68 points)
Kelli Godin easily advanced in the 100 and 200 but also moving on in the long jump was needed. Between the three events, she projects to score 16 points. Most of the Monarchs' points are expected to come from the jumping pits. Dominique Ruotolo and freshman Jade McDonald are seeking over 32 points between the long and triple jumps. Based on seasonal bests, Ruotolo is a slight favorite for both events. McDonald will also travel to the track where she is slated to finish 3rd in the 100 Hurdles. Lillie Boyer continues the strong tradition in the pole vault. Mater Dei owns the 2nd fastest time for the 4x100 relay while Mater Dei may bring home a title with only scoring in seven events.
2) Calabasas (51-56 points)
Owning the top time in California, junior Deanna Nowling a huge favorite to capture the crown in the 100 meters. She may be just as favored in the 200 as well while she anchors her division leading 4x100 Relay squad. Like her teammate, Kyle Robinson-Hubbard (Jeffrey Parenti photo above) is a strong favorite for the 300 hurdles while she will also be in the mix up front in the 400 meters. Looking to defend her title, Janiah Brown is looking for huge points in the 800 meters. For added support, Kennedy Waite is also slated to score points in the 100 meters. Any drop-offs from Mater Dei and Calabasas could regret not having a 4x400 relay squad.

Amber Racina in the pole vault and Shelbi Schauble in the triple jump. Sophia Hoelzel will input added points from the 1600 as well. West Ranch has run the third fastest time in the division in the 4x400 relay.
4) Bonita (35-39 points)
Amari Prude leads the Bearcats in the 200 and 400 meters and is projected to tally 14 points between the two events. Alisha Wilson will add valuable support in the 400 while Sierra Julian (200) and Sammie Riggs (400) will also earn points. Wilson will also take her talents to earn additional points in the long jump. Ellen Manford is slated to earn points in the triple jump while Josie Hipwell looks to finish among the top five at the high jump. State meet finalists last year, their 4x400 relay is expected to win.
5) Saugus (34-37 points)
National leader in the 1600, senior Mariah Castillo is a heavy favorite to capture the 1600 and 3200 meters. Castillo should earn the title in her earlier event rather easily while we foresee more of a challenge in the 3200. Abbey Bryant is projected to earn 14 points from the 100 and 300 hurdles. Meanwhile, Jacqueline Cascione will earn points in the 3200 meters.

Ashley Johnson was the favorite in the 800 meters but was taken by surprise, like all of us, by South Torrance freshman Rania Gomaa. Johnson will be ready for the challenge. Maddie Agnew is projected to for second in the pole Vault while Jenny Kroeger also advanced with her. Sabrina Hartman and Ava Butterbaugh are looking to combine for over ten points in the shot put and Discus. Emma Hicken advanced in the 1600 while Madison Carroll will also earn points from the 300 hurdles. Both of the Diablos' relays project to be in the top six for each race.
7) Citrus Valley (28-32 points)
. Kyrah Johnson and Cienna Norman-Thomas are looking to go 1-2 in the 400 meters. That foundation of strength will put them competing for the win in the 4x400 relay. Sandris Ejede Kome will look to break into the top five in the 300 hurdles while the Blackhawks also advanced in the 4x100 relay.
8) San Marcos (25-29 points)
One of California's top heptathlete, Allie Jones will do the bulk of the scoring. She is the favorite in the 100 hurdles while she will be trying to break into that top three at the long jump. Kaela Cleary looks to finish amongst the top five in the 1600. Meanwhile, the Royals advanced both relays and project to score seven points.
8) Capistrano Valley (24-28 points)
Senior Haley Herberg will focus solely on the 3200 and is projected to finish behind Castillo. Jolie Robinson will amongst the leaders in the long jump while she also qualified in the triple jump. Alyssa Bautista shines at her best for the 800 meters come CIF Finals time. Along with Herberg, Carly Corsinita seeks to finish in the top five for the 3200 meters.
10) Ventura (18-20 points)
Sofia Ramos projects to finish in the top four for the 1600. Vanessa Howard ran the 4th fastest time in the division for the 300 hurdles. Talya Belgin is slated to finish right in the middle of the pack for the Discus. The Cougars qualified their 4x400 relay team and will compete for a spot in the top four.
