During his junior year, Clovis thrower Jonah Wilson (photo above courtesy of Fresno Bee and Craig Kohlruss) had a best of 188'4" which he accomplished in winning the Central Section title. He went on to finish 6th at the California State Meet.
This season, Wilson improved his best mark to 201'0" at the Arcadia Invitational where he finished in 3rd place.
Yesterday, at the Battle of the Central Section, Wilson unleashed a bomb that puts him among the very best on the all-time lists of top discus marks. He had a best of 221'5" which makes him the very best in California history and the 5th best all time nationally. The previous California record holder was Scott Moser Huntington Beach with a best of 213'11" set in 1997.
