Leading Contenders: Hannah Waller Buchanan (CS) 53.62, Maliyah Medley El Toro (SS) & Carolyn Wilson Oaks Christian (SS) 53.84
State Meet Record: Monique Henderson Morse (SDS) 50.74

This year's state final will match the last two state champions as 2014 state champion Kaelin Roberts Carson (LA) will match up against 2015 state champion Hannah Waller Buchanan (CS). Roberts has the faster season best time recorded at Arcadia as she edged out Waller for the invitational title. Carolyn Wilson Oaks Christian (SS) ran her personal best time (CA #3) in the same race but finished 2nd at the SS Masters meet behind surging Maliyah Medley El Toro (SS). Tierra Robinson-Jones Bishop O'Dowd (NCS) won a very competitive section final with a personal best 54.37.

Boys Favorite: Michael Norman Vista Murrieta (SS) 45.51
Leading Contenders: Miles Ellis Antelope (SJS) 46.78 & Marcel Espinoza Santa Monica (SS) 47.33
State Meet Record: Michael Norman Vista Murrieta (SS) 45.19 2015

Michael Norman Vista Murrieta (SS) will win this race and the only uncertainties are if he will lower his own state meet record of 45.19 and if the new record will start with 44. There have been some spectacular high school Track & Field athletes in the history of California and when it's all said and done, Michael Norman will be among the all-time greats. Myles Ellis Antelope (SJS) finished in 6th place at last year's state final and just ran his personal best 46.78 at the SJS Masters Meet. Marcel Espinoza Santa Monica (SS) finished in 2nd place behind the coasting Norman just ahead of Logan Casavant Rancho Mirage (47.60).
